April has been acting professionally on stage and screen since the age of 15 when she became a company actor with the Four Seasons Theatre in Wanganui. She attributes her basic training to director David Smiles, with whom she performed in many classic comedies and farces.

Highlights of her television work include being part of the core cast of satirical show McPhail & Gadsby for two series. April loved working with comedy veterans Jon and David, the variety of roles she got to play, and the pressure of recording some of the show live in front of a studio audience. She has relished working twice with actor John Bach in TV's Lost Children playing a wicked orphanage matron, and again on TV's crime drama Duggan.  Most recently April has played a major role in the TV comedy series Girl vs Boy 3 which should be on screens in New Zealand in July 2014.  She has also played an historic character in Passion in Paradise which will screen sometime this year.

April’s film work includes two Peter Jackson movies including The Lovely Bones and The Frighteners, and in Alex Galvin’s award-winning feature Eternity.  Recently April has played lead roles in the short films Letter For Hope, Utu Pihikete, and Maya Hammarsal’s Mr Wilkins.

April performed her own comedy sketches for several years with acclaimed female comedy group Hen’s Teeth. Her Jenny Taylior Show was a spoof of US chat shows in which she performed a send-up of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”.
